As our schedules have gotten busier, finding time for our social lives have become more difficult. Thankfully, daily commitments, like working out, have also become social events, allowing us to maintain our wellness goals while not failing our friend duties. To take the research off of your already busy schedule, we’ve rounded up the hottest fitness classes that will have you (and your friends) coming back for more.

Yoga with Animals:

When you think of some of the most effective de-stressors, yoga and quality time with cute animals are two Zen-finding options. This probably isn’t a class for serious yogis, but for those who want to inject some fun and light-heartedness into their workout by mixing puppy, kitten—and even goat—love with your cat-cow, downward dog and mountain poses. If you want to keep your animal and yoga time separate, there are inventive yoga classes popping up all the time, for a variety of unique lifestyles—from wine and beer yoga to silent and heavy metal yoga, and even naked yoga.

Climbing:

Staring up the face of a giant cliff can give the best of us a slight case of vertigo. For those who want that feeling of accomplishment from reaching a summit in a more controlled setting, indoor climbing gyms are an excellent place to find it. While giving you a full-body workout, climbing also tests mental strength with that clear goal to reach. With a friend by your side for motivation and/or competition, this will feel more like a challenge—and bring out your inner child—than a workout, which will help distract you from looking at the time every few minutes.

Virtual Reality:

While it has only scratched the surface of its capabilities, VR technology is already changing how we play, watch and learn—and it’s now beginning to change the way we work out. VR fitness programs are already available for individual use, and as the trend continues to grow, expect to see more classes and gyms with VR programs. VR fitness integrates a competitive, game-like element, adding excitement to your workout. That sure beats watching a talk show on mute. The next time you want to catch up with a friend but lack the spare time, consider the benefits of a group-setting fitness class—keeping your wellness goals, and social life, active.
